Photos: VP Yemi Osinbajo, Gov Ambode, Ministers, take inspection tour of Dangote's Lekki Refinery, Petrochemical projects

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo alongside Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and some Ministers took an inspection tour of the Dangote Lekki Refinery and Petrochemical projects today June 25th. Osinbajo after the inspection, said the project is an incredible industrial undertaken, being the largest and the most ambitious in Africa.

Osinbajo who was accompanied on the inspection by the Ministers for Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, said the Gas Project upon completion has the capacity to produce about three billion cubic feet of gas daily, which would permanently address the two billion cubic feet daily gas required to power the country.
"This is incredible if that can be done because it would be a major strategic asset for Nigeria, It would boost our power supply tremendously," the Vice President said.
On his part, the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said the project when completed would have great multiplier effects on the nation's economy:
"Firstly, there is a refinery project that is ongoing, second there is a petrochemical project that is also ongoing. There is pipeline transfer project that brings gas from Bonny down to Olokonla and down to Lekki and then the fourth one is the fertilizer project all in one location."
The governor said the projects would also be critical to the economic growth of the Lagos East and West Senatorial Districts which according to him, will be open to massive investment opportunities on completion.
Governor Ambode said the decision of the Vice President to lead the inspection visit to the projects was a signpost to the benefits inherent not just for the State but to the nation. He assured that his administration would provide the necessary support to ensure that the projects are completed within schedule.
"The coming of the Vice President to inspect this project is instructive and a sign post that the Federal Government is in support of what is going on us and the truth is this, we might not be able to show you all that is going on here but in another few weeks, we will do an aerial view of this project and also do a documentary because for the very first time we are going to have a Petrochemical project that is coming on stream by December 2017; a Refinery that is coming on stream by the first quarter of 2019 and also the Gas project that is coming on stream by 2018. You can just imagine or visualize what that means to the economy of Lagos," Governor Ambode said.
Ambode added that apart from the 135,000 direct jobs that will be created from the projects, another 100,000 indirect jobs would be generated while income accruable to the Federal Government would be in the region of over $500million in three years.
"It is important that we understand the debt of what has happened here and also use it as a platform to encourage other investors that Lagos is on the rise and the future of Lagos is very bright," the Governor said.

The brief statement, signed by Brigadier General Moduch Agbinibo, told Mr. Buhari to visit the Niger Delta region and see the impact of oil wells on communities for himself.
This statement follows an increase in agitation from many elements in southern Nigeria, including the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), calling for UK-style referendum on whether southern States should secede from the Nigerian Federation. The NDA in a separate Tweet on Saturday said “President Buhari borrow a leaf from PM David Cameron, call for a referendum and let Nigerians decides like they did to vote you into power.” They also posted a map of Nigeria split into five distinct republics.
NDA’s latest statement told Mr. Buhari that he should “come and see for yourself what the host communities are going through in the hands of Nigeria government and the multinationals.”

MEND's Charles Okah Still In Custody, Not Part Of Abuja Jail Break- Nigeria Prison Service

Charles Okah, a brother of Henry Okah, jailed leader of the Movement For The Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), is still in prison, according to Francis Enobore, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Prison Service. SaharaReporters had reported earlier today that Mr. Okah was one of the escapees from Kuje Prison in Abuja.
A prison inmate had informed SaharaReporters that Mr. Okah, who is on trial in Abuja for the 2010 Independence Day bombing that killed 27 people, escaped last night by simply scaling the prison walls of the prison around 7:30 p.m. Nigerian time. Our informant also added that Mr. Okah escaped along with another prison inmate.
However, a prison source has clarified that the two men who escaped are Maxwell Ojukwu from Delta State and Solomon Amodu who is from Kogi State. The source added that the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) had commenced a massive manhunt to find and re-arrest the two men.
Charles Okah’s brother and MEND leader, Henry Okah, is serving a 24-year jail sentence in South Africa after he was convicted of masterminding terrorist activities in Nigeria.
Mr. Enobore earlier confirmed the jailbreak to SaharaReporters, but said he was not yet aware of the identities of those involved. However, he told our correspondent that the NPS had begun an investigation to discover what happened.
An inmate at the prison told SaharaReporters that security was unusually lax at the high-profile prison and that soldiers stationed outside the prison did not act when they were told of the escape. SaharaReporters learned that the escapees scaled a fence behind the church at the prison.
One of our sources disclosed that the Comptroller General of the NPS and the Federal Capital Territory commander of the NPS visited the prison today. However, Mr. Okah’s whereabouts remained a mystery since several sources at the prison confirmed he had not been brought back to his cell. One inmate told SaharaReporters that there were rumors circulating that Mr. Okah was in the prison clinic.
Another source at the prison said Mr. Okah was being interrogated to find out if he was involved in any way in the prison break.

Prison spokesperson, Mr. Enobore, told SaharaReporters he was on his way to the prison in Kuje to ascertain things for himself before issuing a statement.

Zenith Bank's officials allegedly begging Gov. Fayose (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Zenith Bank's officials allegedly pay a visit to beg Fayose
Zenith Bank officials visited Governor Ayodele Fayose over account frozen by EFCC and campaign fund controversy.

The alleged officials of the bank were pictured begging the Governor.

According to SA to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications & New Media, Lere Olayinka:
"A management team from Zenith Bank Plc visited Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, over the involvement of the bank in the funding of the June 21, 2014 governorship election of the governor.

“Their visit to the governor followed a reported denial by the bank that it was not part of the funding of the election,” the statement said.

“The team was led by an Executive Director, Sola Oladipo.

“It also had two zonal directors of the bank and the Ado-Ekiti branch manager.

“When accosted by newsmen, the ED said they only came to see the governor.

“Asked whether the bank really dissociated itself from the claim by the governor that it was part of the funding of the election, Shola could only mutter some inaudible words.

“He eventually said the spokesman for the bank was not on the team and could not say anything.

“While commenting on the development, Governor Fayose said the bank officials came to beg him over the issue.

“They were begging me and that the matter should not go beyond this level. I asked them why did they go to the EFCC to tell lies. Why did they have to lie that money came from the Office of the National Security Adviser? If the money is for me why did they have to link with me what is not,” the statement said.
The governor says Zenith Bank helped in funding his election in 2014, in his bid to deny an allegation by the government linking him to a $2.1 billion arms money reportedly diverted by the former Goodluck Jonathan administration.

But Mr. Fayose accuses the bank of lying to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission about the transaction, and his public comments on the case are believed aimed at getting even with the bank’s leaders.

The bank has distanced itself from the governor’s election.

I am being punished by the powers that be for perceived offences committed long before- embattled ex-NSA Dasuki says.

Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, told the court today that he is being punished by the powers that be for the perceived offences committed long before. Speaking through his counsel, Joseph Daodu (SAN), Dasuki said he leaves everything for God almighty to judge.
“It is crystal clear that the defendant (Dasuki) is being punished by the powers that be for the perceived offences committed long before… we leave them to the Almighty God for his ultimate judgment,” he said
The former NSA said this at the hearing of an application filed by the Federal government that witnesses lined up to testify against Dasuki should be allowed to do so behind a smoked screen.

According to counsel to the Federal government, Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN), Dasuki has large loyalists across the country who may jeopardize the trial if the witnesses are allowed to testify openly.

US GOVT: Fayose’s Allegation on President Buhari’s Wife Aisha Was True (Photos)

US COURT DOCUMENTS REVEAL AISHA BUHARI’S INVOLVEMENT IN THE ATIKU-JEFFERSON SCANDAL
The United States Justice Department, revealed that the All Progressive Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari (posing as Buhari’s daughter), was used as conduit and engaged in fraudulent wire transfers, from her Nigerian account in favour of Congressman Jefferson, via the ANJ Group LLC.
The US District Court Memo, states that Congressman William J. Jefferson, between August 2000 and August 2005, sought hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of himself and family members.
In return, the defendant used his congressional office to promote the business interests of bribe-paying companies, whose very success was dependent upon the approvals of certain United States and West African government agencies and officials.

Congressman Jefferson, further compounded his criminal culpability by conspiring with others to pay a bribe to the then-sitting Vice President of Nigeria.
The WhistleNG, in an exclusive report, stated that in hushed and sometimes cryptic taped recorded conversations, Congressman Jefferson, explained in details how the success of the Nigerian telecommunications venture depended on bribing the Vice President of Nigeria, who the defendant described as “really corrupt.”
The US District Court during their investigation, also revealed that Williams Jefferson, in one of his numerous bribe schemes, wired $170,000 to a Nigerian account in the name of Aisha Buhari.
“During the investigation of his numerous bribe schemes, law enforcement agents learned of several wire transfers from offshore territories into U.S. financial accounts, that were either controlled by the defendant or whose proceeds were made available for his benefit.See Donald C. Semesky, Jr., Tr. at 104 – 116; see also Government Exhibits 36-87 (6/26/02 $170,000 wire transfer from account in Nigeria in the name of Aisha Buhari, to an account in the name of The ANJ Group, LLC, identifying “William Jefferson” as Beneficiary), Government Exhibits 36-90 and 36-91 (11/28/03 $50,000 wire transfer from account in British Virgin Islands in the name of Dawson Creek Traders to an account in the name of Jefferson Interests, Inc.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in their report dated June 22, 2006 also stated that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was summoned by the US government for Investigation into the iGate/NDTV business deals involving Congressman Jefferson, which also contained Haija Aisha M. Buhari’s bank records and transfer history.
Reports from New York Times Story (April 29, 2007) revealed Aisha Buhari on the dubious $1.2m campaigning contract, to help the former Akwa Ibom State Gov., Obong Attah, boost his image and attract investment to Akwa Ibom in his bid to become President of Nigeria, as well as a contract where Aisha Buhari, served as a consultant to orchestrate enormous name golfers to go to the opening of the Uyo Golf Resort, commissioned by former Governor, Obong Attah.
As indicated by the New York Times story, “she (Aisha Buhari) told him that her father was the former military ruler of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and that her American friends included politicians like Mr. Jefferson of Louisiana.”
The former Governor, also verified the claim by the New York Times when he said, he knows Ms. Buhari’s daughter, who is still a powerful Nigerian politician, by reputation. He also met her, he said, in 2001 when she accompanied a group of American politicians that included Mr. Jefferson to Akwa Ibom, to see oil-related pollution problems there.
“All I needed to do was ask Aisha if she knew him,” Mr. Attah recalls.
General Buhari, has since denied that Aisha Buhari is his daughter, in spite of the contrary proofs, pretty much as he denied his adopted son, Mr. Mohammed Buhari, who was likewise captured in May 2014, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for swindling a woman Mrs. Nwokwocha Florence, of N20m to put resources into an oil and gas business with a guarantee to make mouthwatering returns to the woman.

A 20-year-old Nigerian man has been found guilty of murdering a teenage boy in north London. Uchechukwu Ejimonye, of Roth Walk, N7 was yesterday, Wednesday, 22 June found guilty at the Old Bailey in connection with the death of 17-year-old Vasilaki Kakko in Holloway. He will be sentenced today Thursday, 23 June.

Detective Inspector Mick Norman, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said:

"What started as an evening out with friends quickly escalated into a moment of extreme violence. Whilst it is unclear what led Ejimonye to fatally stab Vasso, it is obvious to most people that there is never any excuse to take someone else's life…"

On 23 November 2015, police were called at approximately 20:50hrs to reports that a man had been stabbed on Yoke Close, close to North Road, N7.

The London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance also attended and Vasilaki - known as Vasso to family and friends - who was from Newington Green was pronounced dead at the scene at 21:22hrs.

A post-mortem examination held at Whittington Hospital Mortuary on 25 November 2015 gave cause of death as a stab wound to the neck.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an investigation and quickly established that Vasso had been socialising with a small group of acquaintances in a small public square. Without explanation, one of these men produced a knife and stabbed him in the neck before running away.

The man was later identified as Ejimonye. He was traced by officers to the Bognor Regis area where he was arrested with the assistance of colleagues from Sussex Police on 30 November 2015. He was transferred to London and charged the following day.

Aisha Buhari in The US Different From Nigeria First Lady Aisha Buhari, SaharaReporters Finds

A SaharaReporters investigation into criminal activity in the United States by one Aisha Buhari confirms that the perpetrator is not the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari.  SaharaReporters began its latest investigation following the circulation of reports that Mrs. Buhari—wife of President Muhammadu Buhari—was involved in a bribe scheme in 2002 in which she wired the sum of $170,000 to disgraced former US Congressman William Jefferson.

GOV. WIKE AFTER MY LIFE …SENATOR ABE

Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Rivers South East Senatorial District re-run election has expressed fear that his life could be in danger because of the level of conspiracy against him by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at Silverbird Rhythm fm 93.7 news and current affairs programme tagged: "The ViewPoint”, in Port Harcourt, Abe said that there had been a meeting of militants in Ogoni sponsored and masterminded by Governor Nyesom Wike against him.
"There is an evil in Rivers State and I have chosen to speak against it. If anything happens to me, Nigerians, Rivers, Ogoni people and my family should hold Governor Nyesom Wike and his PDP people responsible because the threat against my life is too much”.
Abe said that he fears a situation where he could be attacked and the Rivers State government led by Wike would paint a picture that his people killed him because of the Yeghe crisis.
He noted that the Ogoni people love him and would not do such except outsiders or those who could be sponsored by the state government.
He said that the governor and PDP were seeing him as a strong voice from APC that must be silenced at all cost.
The former Secretary to the State Government narrated how the governor at Luuwa in Khana Local Government Area during the 50th birthday of Senator Lee Maeba had charged his supporters to stop him by all means, pointing out that he specifically said to stop and not to vote against him.
He further said the ripples of the threat were beginning to manifest with the Yeghe crisis, attempt to malign his reputation and now a meeting of the militants.
He stated that all their plans would fail as Ogoni people are now wiser.

JUST IN: PDP ISSUES IMMEDIATE ORDER TO PRESIDENT BUHARI

Governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to order over the freezing of the personal accounts of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The governors who spoke on Tuesday, June 21, through the chairman of the PDP governor’s forum, Olusegun Mimiko, described the freezing of Fayose’s account by the anti-graft agency as a violation of the constitution.
According to Vanguard, Olusegun Mimiko who also doubles as the governor of Ondo state faulted the EFCC actions, saying the agency cannot interfere with the account of a sitting governor as stipulated in section 308 of the 1999 Constitution.
He said Fayose could only be charged for criminal infraction or fraud after he vacates office and warned that the actions of the EFCC portrayed that the country is drifting towards totalitarianism.
He also insisted that the account of any individual could only be frozen after a court of competent jurisdiction has so ruled or an interim order by a court of competent jurisdiction is granted to the anti-graft agency.
Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose has gotten a response from the presidency over his corruption allegations against Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
The Ekiti state governor had on Monday, June 20, mentioned Mrs Buhari’s name in the bribery scandal of US Congessman, William Jefferson, for which he (Jefferson) was convicted in 2009.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to President Buhari on media and publicity, stated that the presidency would have ignored Fayose because “he is a man childishly obsessed with the desire to grab the headlines and insulting people at will because of his incurably boorish instincts.”
In related development, The PDP has alleged that Aisha Buhari could actually plot the assassination of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state for exposing her secrets.

The opposition party was reacting to Aisha’s tweet on Tuesday evening where she described the Ekiti governor as a mad dog following allegations made by him that she was involved in a corruption scandal for which Williams Jefferson, a US congressman was convicted in 2009.
